Authorship and the veracity of our thoughts

Who owns our thoughts?

This is a question that has been sought to be answered by a lot of people, psychologists inclusive. In the course of this quest, the majority of knowledge seekers have agreed that most of our thoughts do not come from us.

It has been discovered that our thoughts are greatly influenced by our environment (physical and digital), our education, our upbringing, and of course, by other people. The interesting part of this is that these factors influence our thoughts even without us realizing them.

A lot of people would rather believe that they own their thoughts, and would rather deem themselves free-thinkers. But can we really find the line between being a free-thinker and being a voracious adopter of the thoughts of others?

Since we see how much of our thoughts are influenced by external factors, shouldn’t we rather get actively involved in scrutinizing what gets into our minds rather than arguing that they actually do get in?

Shouldn’t we become wary of what information we feed our minds with? Shouldn’t we tenaciously guard the gates of our minds?

“Be very careful to keep your mind safe. The thoughts that you think make you the person that you are.”

‭‭PROVERBS‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭EASY‬‬

Shouldn’t we become more keen on those who influence us?

“For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes].”

‭‭1 CORINTHIANS‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ ‭AMP

It is ultimately our choice whom we should subject our minds to, who should gain entrance and who should not. May we make the right choice.

Have a great week.

Love,
Laura.

Our environment truly is great factor especially that digital part whether we like it or not what we feed ourselves from social media impacts us greatly . It’s very important we become very conscious of what we feed our minds ;Who we let in our spaces, hold conversations with, who we follow on social media , the type of shows we watch. Thank you for reminding me that is is solely MY CHOICE WHOM I ALLOW GAIN ENTRANCE INTO MY LIFE. I am allowed to me selfish with the type of people or media I give access too because slowly but surely it will have an impact on me.
    Thank you Laura
    Love Nichole
