God’s Way or The Highway

Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”

  • James ‭‭(James‬ ‭4:13-15‬ NLT)

There are two approaches to the quest for fulfilment. There’s the part where you plan your life yourself. Get all the knowledge, guidance and skill set you’ll need to ensure your plans pull through. That’s a great way too, the downside to it is that you’re under the sun. And under the sun, time and chance happen. And they have the capacity to ruin your plans.

The other approach is “letting go, letting God”. This doesn’t in any way connote irresponsibility. Letting go simply means that God’s plan for you becomes your plan for you.

This approach is indeed a tough path to tow. Reason being that you cannot quite ascertain what He’d use your life for. He’ll call you to be the lone voice of truth amidst a wilderness of lies. You’re expected to speak the truth boldly.

He’ll give you access to great wealth. You’re supposed to use it for His glory and to express His love to humanity. He’d want you to let go of your ambitions and embrace His ambition for you. You’re supposed to see great value in His ambition, even in the humble things of life.

He will expect you to turn the left cheek when your enemy hits you. You’re supposed to let Him fight your battles while loving your enemies. He’ll expect you to obey Him irrespective of how woke our society is getting. This means that even grey areas like sexual purity can’t be grey in your sight.

He’ll expect His word to be Truth to you and be the ultimate truth that forms your values. He’ll want to lead you and whichever way He leads, you ought to follow.

This is why we have to think this path through because we shouldn’t say yes to Him and expect to lead Him. Or try to bend him to our own whims. It’s our choice to surrender or make our own plans. Always has been. Surrendering is a big deal. That’s why the choice to say No exists.

Don’t forget, though. Letting go means living in His kingdom here on earth. It means lasting peace and victory. It means walking on water, it means walking off the cliff and soaring. It means living in the supernatural. However, you have to die to become a spirit, the more you die to self, the more supernatural you become.

The choice remains yours.

Have a blessed week.

Love,
Laura.
